When teeth are pushed or moved into a new position, it's common to experience some discomfort, but this is usually a good sign that the treatment is working! Most patients report only mild discomfort during the first few days after starting a new set of aligners, while some experience no discomfort at all. If there is any discomfort, it tends to feel more like pressure rather than sharp or intense pain, and it typically resolves within a few days.
It’s recommended that you wear your aligners for 22 hours a day. You should only remove them for meals and for brushing and flossing before reinserting them. If the aligners are not worn for the full 22 hours, the corrective process can be interrupted and may even begin to reverse within a few hours. This can lead to delays in your treatment, as it may take several days to get back on track.
