Denislava Slavova

I have had terrible experiences at dentists in the past where treatments have been rushed or very painful, but this wasn’t the case with Ferry Dental. Instead of rushing into a specific treatment, all options have been explored and explained by Dr. Iuri and all my questions were answered before jumping into any decisions. All staff are super friendly and professional, definitely recommend.

What does root canal treatment involve?

Root canal treatment is a skilled procedure designed to remove infection from the root canal and save the natural tooth. In most cases, the entire procedure can be completed in a single visit.

1

Removing the infection

The first step is to carefully remove the infected pulp from inside the tooth. This eliminates the source of the pain and allows us to restore your tooth’s health.

2

Cleaning and shaping

Once the infection is removed, the root canal is thoroughly cleaned and shaped to prepare it for sealing. This ensures the tooth is protected from future infections.

3

Sealing and restoring

Finally, the cleaned canal is filled and sealed with a special material. A permanent filling is placed to restore the tooth’s strength and function.

4

Complimentary follow-up

We offer a complimentary follow-up appointment a few months later to check the success of your treatment with an X-ray, giving you added peace of mind.

Who will I see?

You’re in good hands with our dentist Dr Iuri Coev, who has successfully completed numerous root canal treatments and has developed a special interest in endodontics. His expertise and attention to detail ensure that your treatment is both effective and comfortable.

Frequently asked questions about root canal treatment

Choosing not to undergo root canal treatment means considering tooth extraction as an alternative. While extraction can preserve your overall dental health, it's important to be aware of a few potential consequences.

When a tooth is removed, there can be bone loss in the jaw, which might weaken the bone over time. This could lead to the need for additional procedures, like bone grafting, if you later decide to pursue dental implants. Additionally, surrounding teeth may shift to fill the gap, which can affect alignment and bite.

If you choose extraction, you’ll also need to think about replacing the missing tooth with options like a bridge, denture, or dental implant. Although these solutions can require investment and maintenance, they also offer opportunities for enhancing your smile and overall dental function.

Root canal treatment is a routine dental procedure that can be performed at our dental practice in Southampton. Our skilled team is equipped to provide you with the care you need to preserve your natural tooth and maintain your oral health.

After root canal treatment, it's important to care for your treated tooth just like any other tooth. Make sure to brush your teeth at least once a day using fluoride toothpaste. Try to limit sugary snacks and enjoy them only during mealtimes to protect your dental health. Regular check-ups with your dentist are also essential to monitor your overall oral health and ensure the success of your treatment.
