Denislava Slavova

I have had terrible experiences at dentists in the past where treatments have been rushed or very painful, but this wasn’t the case with Ferry Dental. Instead of rushing into a specific treatment, all options have been explored and explained by Dr. Iuri and all my questions were answered before jumping into any decisions. All staff are super friendly and professional, definitely recommend.

Your composite bonding treatment journey

We’ll begin with an initial consultation with our Southampton dentist, to discuss your smile goals and develop a personalised treatment plan.

The best part? Composite bonding doesn’t require any drilling or numbing injections, so it can typically be completed in just one appointment.

1

Colour selection

We start by selecting a composite colour that closely matches your natural teeth and aligns with your desired results.

2

Preparation

Next, we gently prepare the tooth surface and apply a bonding liquid to ensure the composite adheres effectively.

3

Application

Then, we apply the composite resin to your tooth and sculpt it to blend seamlessly with your other teeth, using a special ultraviolet light to harden it safely.

4

Refinement

Finally, we refine the shape and polish the tooth, ensuring it matches the natural surface of your other teeth perfectly.

Frequently asked questions about composite bonding

Composite bonding involves the application of a composite resin to enhance the appearance of teeth. While it looks great, it is slightly less durable than the porcelain used for veneers and crowns. One of the key advantages of bonding is that it is often a non-invasive procedure, meaning healthy tooth structure is preserved. This makes it reversible - if the filling needs to be removed in the future, the tooth remains undamaged.

In contrast, veneers and crowns require the removal of a significant portion of the tooth before placement. If the tooth is already damaged, a crown may be a more suitable option to provide added strength and protection.

In most cases, you can expect your composite bonding to last between five and seven years, depending on your oral hygiene and care. While the bonding may need to be replaced eventually, your dentist will provide you with specific guidance on the longevity of your restorations during your visits.

The procedure is non-invasive and usually does not require drilling or numbing injections. Most patients find it comfortable, with minimal to no discomfort during the treatment. If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to discuss them with your dentist beforehand.

Yes, you can enjoy a normal diet with composite bonding! We use high quality, durable composite material, allowing you to eat most of your usual foods. However, it’s best to be cautious with very hard items that could crack or damage your teeth.
