Frequently asked questions about dental crowns and bridges

Dental crowns can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years, depending on the material used, your oral hygiene practices, and whether you grind your teeth. Regular dental check-ups and good oral care can help extend the lifespan of your crowns. Plus, we offer a 5-year warranty as an assurance of quality, giving you added peace of mind.

At Ferry Dental Centre, we collaborate with laboratories that use only top-quality materials. We offer two types of dental bridges: porcelain bonded and zirconia.

1) Porcelain bonded bridges: These consist of precious metal coated with a layer of porcelain to mimic the colour of natural teeth. This durable material is less likely to pop off or fracture, making it ideal for back teeth, where chewing forces are strongest.

2) Zirconia or layered zirconia bridge: These bridges are tooth-coloured and provide excellent aesthetics while being strong and durable.

Dental implants require a more invasive procedure compared to bridges. An implant serves as a 'fake' tooth root, onto which a crown can be placed afterward. The choice between the two options should be based on your individual needs and is something we’ll discuss with you during your consultation.

Dentures are removable appliances, while bridges are cemented in place and not removable. Dentures rely on suction to stay in place, often covering the entire palate, whereas bridges do not require suction and are securely fixed in the mouth.
