They say you’re never fully dressed without a smile and sometimes simple things like having whiter teeth can dramatically change your self-image.
Every December a lot of patients contact us asking if they can have whiter teeth for this Christmas. Unfortunately for some patients, there is not enough time.
If you want to avoid disappointment, the treatment must start before Friday 1st of December 2017 as it takes approximately 3 weeks to achieve the beautiful white smile you are after.
Most patients need a cleaning before the whitening – so that the whitening gel will work better on your teeth. It also takes 10 days for the Dental Laboratory to manufacture your bespoken whitening trays. Most patients need around 14 applications – which is usually 14 nights – to achieve the White Smile they are after.
You often ask us why we don’t offer “Laser Whitening” or “in surgery whitening”. The reason is that almost 50% of our patients report some sensitivity with our very gentle “take home whitening kit”. When you try to achieve a nice white smile within an hour using “Laser Teeth Whitening”, unfortunately the hypersensitivity is severe and / or uncontrollable.
Some of our patients experience sensitivity after a whitening session but you can easily control this sensitivity by doing whitening every other night – whereas there is no such option with the in house 1h whitening. This is one more reason to act timely if you are after a Whiter Smile for this Christmas.
If you are after a Bright White Smile for 2018, Contact Us today to book your Free Cosmetic Consultation. We are open 6 days per week including late evenings. Call us now on 02380 332255 to avoid disappointment.
Questions and Answers for Teeth Whitening
How white will my teeth get?
Most dental systems can whiten teeth up to 16 shades; results vary but if used correctly all teeth will whiten dramatically.
Will they look too white?
No, natural teeth rarely look too white. Sometimes very white crowns can look wrong because they are made of porcelain.
Will my crowns, veneers or fillings change colour?
No, sometimes you may need to change some of these after bleaching.
Is there pain or discomfort?
You may get some transient sensitivity, however your dentist will give you easy to use desensitising swabs to take home or a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
How long does it take?
Two weeks after your dentist delivers your bleaching trays. These are thin and comfortable and must be worn in bed for 14 nights, then on the 15th day you are advised to see your dentist for a review.
How long does it last?
Results can last indefinitely with some very simple maintenance – wearing the trays for 1 night every other month. Most patients achieve the desired shade by using 2 or 3 of the total 4 syringes included. This results in having one spare syringe for approximately 7 applications which should last for over two years of maintenance!
Why is dental whitening more expensive?
The combinations of peroxides we use are far stronger to anything you will find in a beauty spa or on the high street. We also use a premium material to take your impressions and one of the best UK labs to manufacture your trays. This results in very comfortable and precise trays that keep the gel on the teeth. If the trays fit poorly then the gel will leak on the gums which may lead to damage on the gums and your teeth will not get any whiter!
Is it safe?
Completely, the materials used in the whitening agent (gel) have been used in dentistry for over 100 years.
How much does it cost?
The total cost is £280 – this includes the free cosmetic consultation, the custom made trays and 4 syringes of Boutique whitening.
