  1. Q. What is a veneer?
  2. A. Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells designed to cover just the front surface of a tooth. Veneers are made to match the colour of your teeth to give you an all-round natural look.

  1. Q. What is the purpose of a veneer?
  2. A. Dental veneers have many purposes. These include: to fill spaces or gaps, cover discoloured teeth, cover worn down teeth and to generally improve your appearance when you smile. Veneers are mainly used for teeth which are visible when you smile.

  1. Q. Is the process of getting a veneer painful?
  2. A. No not at all! Having a veneer is pain free.

  1. Q. How long does it take?
  2. A. Most of the times we need two pain-free appointments. We usually make the whole experience as “pleasant” as possible. We rarely require local anaesthetic (injections) as minimum invasion is needed to complete the veneering process. On the 1st appointment we prepare the teeth and take the impressions which we sent to the dental laboratory. After approximately 10 days the 2nd appointment takes place – cementing the veneers on your teeth. You will be able to return to work straight away after both appointments.

  1. Q. Will I need temporary veneers?
  2. A. As tooth is prepared very slightly, you will probably not need temporary veneers. The teeth will look almost the same after your 1st appointment.

  1. Q. Can I have multiple veneers?
  2. A. Yes you can. Most of the times we veneer the teeth in pairs (two, four, six or eight) so there is symmetry.

  1. Q. How long do veneers last for?
  2. A. With proper care (brushing, flossing and regular dental visits) your veneers should last at least seven years with an average of fifteen years. We have seen twenty years old veneers that still look immaculate!
